Garlic Mashed Potatoes for Those Who Aren’t Too Concerned About Social Interactions

Or: “This Is Not a Recipe for Close Talkers.”

This recipe shouldn’t take more than ten minutes to prepare, in addition to a twenty-minute boil. The potatoes go well with my roast chicken recipe, but I’m not gonna lie: I gladly eat the mash by itself.

The Recipe

Ingredients

  • 6 unpeeled Yukon Gold potatoes
  • 4 tbsp butter, softened, cut into ¼-inch pieces
  • ½ cup cream
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Steps

  1. Add potatoes to a large pot of boiling water.
  2. Boil until soft, roughly 20 minutes.
  3. Drain and place the potatoes in a large bowl.
  4. Throw butter, cream, and garlic into the bowl.
  5. Mash and/or use a hand mixer if you want creamy potatoes.
  6. Fold in salt and pepper to taste.

Leftovers store well in the fridge. Reheat them with additional cream if needed.

You probably know what Yukon Golds look like, but I felt like tossing in a shout-out to Met Market.
